Andrew fails his first test....vision test, that is.

Well, the results are in... Andrew is as blind as a bat. Turns out he has astigmatism in both eyes. No more letting him drive when Jeannie has had too much to drink!

So after his dismal failure trying to read the 4" letters on the wall, he picked out a pair of frames that he liked and we plan to pick up his new glasses some time next week.

Andrew leaves school early today for a visit with the eye doctor...Following in Grandpa's footsteps, Andrew is going to the eye doctor to check on his vision this afternoon. Depending on what the optometrist says, Andrew might come home with four eyes instead of two. So far, he's not very excited about the idea of wearing glasses. However, he seemed to perk up a little bit when I told him the video games might look even better with glasses on.

We have officially been bitten by the new house bug.

Andrew spent a few days in the hospital last week after an ear infection gone awry.Due to an ear infection that had a mind of it's own, we all made a trip to the emergency room on Monday at 9pm last week. After checking Andrew over, they decided to run some tests and see what they could determine about his ear that had been swelling up for several hours.

After about a dozen doctors and nurses poking and prodding him and then 30 minutes strapped to a table during a CT-scan, they admitted Andrew around 2:30 a.m. and put him on I.V. antibiotics. We spent the next 48 hours hanging out at Children's Mercy downtown watching cartoons, playing Nintendo, and ordering room service (well, Andrew got room service -- Jeannie and I had to fend for ourselves in the cafeteria!)
